According to its Colt factory letter (included as part of the purchase) it was shipped in the blue to New York dealer
J. P. Moores Sons on April 10, 1875 along with 25 other SAA’s. It is engraved in the 1870’s New York style and
could be a Nimschke engraved piece. The gun’s engraving and its grips are almost identical to SAA #23,451 shown
on page 334 of “The Colt Engraving Book – Volume 1” by R. L. Wilson. It is all original and has all matching
numbers except the loading gate which is probably a batch number. It has spectacular period Mexican Eagle grips. It
functions perfectly and cocks with the four C-O-L-T clicks. It has seen use but no abuse. A wonderful classic SAA
Colt from the third year of manufacture. Worthy of a sophisticated collection. Previously Sold
