This is a nice '86. It comes with a Cody Firearms Museum data sheet stating that it
was shipped on October 2 1888 with an octagon barrel. It has seen a good bit of
wear with all metal now a pleasing pewter/plum color. The wood has very few dings
and dents but has a thin coat of finish added that could be easily removed. Good
sharp markings. The bore is a bit dark with some decent rifling showing. It should
clean up a bit and is very shootable. This gun is available at a reasonable price and
is perfect for the beginning collector or restorer. A nice old '86 that certainly could
tell us some great stories of the old West!
